New Pump Vault

The new Campus Geothermal System serves the east half of campus.  Phase I of the project connects the Zollner Engineering building and the Wilfred Uytengsu, Sr. Center; as well as provides in-ground connections for a future academic building, the Cunningham building, and the Warrior Field House.  The first phase includes over 70 wells at a depth of 400 feet, providing over 130 tons of geothermal heating and cooling capacity. This project is part of the campus’ long-term goal to transition the entire campus to a geothermal “central plant” system, with plans to expand the system around the whole campus.  The Pump Vault in this phase  serves as a student gathering space overlooking the baseball field.  The roof of the Vault has flexible and fixed seating, charcoal grills for social events, and a wi-fi connection tied into the campus-wide wireless system.
